Bryson collected three hits in three at bats, as Maple Valley Varsity Lions defeated Bath Varsity Fighting Bees 17-7 on Thursday at Griswold Field at Roger Corey D. Bryson singled in the fifth inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the fourth inning. Maple Valley Varsity Lions got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Bryson singled to center field, Carpenter walked, and Miller grounded out, each scoring one run. Bath Varsity Fighting Bees captured the lead, 4-3, in the top of the third when Miller induced Talbott to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, Wilson singled, scoring two runs, and Garfield was struck by a pitch, driving in a run. Maple Valley Varsity Lions jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Bath Varsity Fighting Bees committed an error, Wawiernia grounded into a fielder's choice, and Bath Varsity Fighting Bees committed an error, each scoring one run. Maple Valley Varsity Lions scored eight runs on four hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. Bryson singled, scoring three runs, Joseph drew a walk, scoring one run, Hansbarger singled, scoring two runs, Hoefler drew a walk, scoring one run, and McDonald singled, scoring one run. Miller opened the game for Maple Valley Varsity Lions. The pitcher allowed three hits and four runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking two. Wilson stepped on the hill first for Bath Varsity Fighting Bees. The hurler allowed three hits and three runs over two innings, striking out one and walking two. Williams and Wawiernia each appeared in relief for Maple Valley Varsity Lions. Maple Valley Varsity Lions accumulated nine hits in the game. Hoefler and Bryson each collected three hits for Maple Valley Varsity Lions. McDonald collected two hits for Maple Valley Varsity Lions in three at bats.
