Lions split with Bronson, dropping Game 2 5-11

Varsity vs BRONSON JR/SR HIGH SCHOOL (5 - 11) Loss Big Sixth Inning Leads Bronson Past Maple Valley Varsity Lions April 7, 2026 vs. Bronson Bronson scored six runs in the sixth inning, which helped them defeat Maple Valley Varsity Lions 11-5 on Tuesday. Bronson got on the board in the top of the first inning after Fair singled, #9 singled down the left field line, and Stevens grounded into a fielder's choice, each scoring one run. Bronson added one run in the second. Fair singled to center field, making the score 4-0. Maple Valley Varsity Lions tied the game in the bottom of the third thanks to a single by Carpenter, an error, and a walk by Wawiernia. A single by Stevens gave Bronson the lead, 5-4, in the top of the fifth. Bronson scored six runs on three hits in the top of the sixth inning. Wotta drew a walk, scoring one run, Webb doubled, scoring three runs, and McClelland singled, scoring two runs. Fair earned the win for Bronson. The reliever allowed four hits and four runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out three and walking five. McDonald took the loss for Maple Valley Varsity Lions. The right-handed pitcher went one and two-thirds innings, giving up six runs on three hits, striking out none and walking five. Hoefler started on the hill for Maple Valley Varsity Lions. The pitcher gave up seven hits and five runs (four earned) over four innings, striking out three and walking four. Byler opened the game for Bronson. The starting pitcher surrendered one hit and one run over two innings, striking out four and walking three. McDonald, Carpenter, Bryson, Pierce, and Coblentz each collected one hit for Maple Valley Varsity Lions. Carpenter, Coblentz, and Wawiernia each drove in one run for Maple Valley Varsity Lions. Maple Valley Varsity Lions had a strong eye at the plate, amassing eight walks for the game. Carpenter, Bryson, and Wawiernia led the team with two free passes each. Bronson collected 11 hits in the game. Webb led Bronson with three runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The infielder went 1-for-4 on the day. Fair went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Bronson in hits. Stevens and Wotta each collected multiple hits for Bronson. Kriser paced Bronson with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up nine walks for the game. Byler stole three bases. Bronson stole seven bases in the game. Bronson turned one double play in the game.
