Maple Valley Varsity Lions Loses Despite Out Hitting Concord

Maple Valley Varsity Lions fell 5-3 to Concord on Tuesday despite out-hitting them seven to six. McDonald and Pierce each collected two hits for Maple Valley Varsity Lions. Maple Valley Varsity Lions were the first to get on the board in the second when Hoefler singled, scoring two runs. Concord jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Maple Valley Varsity Lions committed an error, Mandrelle singled down the right field line, Blossom singled to center field, and Miller singled to center field, each scoring one run. Riske earned the win for Concord. The starting pitcher allowed seven hits and three runs (two earned) over six and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking three. Coblentz took the loss for Maple Valley Varsity Lions. The right-handed pitcher went six innings, giving up five runs (two earned) on six hits, striking out nine and walking two. Hoefler went 1-for-4 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Coblentz threw an immaculate inning in the sixth, striking out the side on nine pitches. Miller and Hoefler each stole multiple bases for Maple Valley Varsity Lions. Maple Valley Varsity Lions stole nine bases in the game. Fritz, Woolworth, Miller, Blossom, Cole, and Mandrelle each collected one hit for Concord. Fritz, Miller, Blossom, Cole, and Mandrelle each drove in one run for Concord.
