Maple Valley Varsity Lions Defeat Reading On Multiple Hit Performance By Pierce

Game 1 Pierce collected three hits in four at bats, as Maple Valley Varsity Lions defeated Reading 10-0 on Tuesday. Pierce singled in the second inning, singled in the fourth inning, and singled in the sixth inning. McDonald struck out 11 batters on the day. The hurler also gave up three hits and zero runs over five and one-third innings while walking three. Maple Valley Varsity Lions got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after McDonald doubled to center field, and Bryson flew out, each scoring one run. Maple Valley Varsity Lions extended their early lead with two runs in the bottom of the second thanks to RBI singles by Wawiernia and Pierce. Anderson took the loss for Reading. The hurler went five innings, giving up eight runs (four earned) on seven hits, striking out four and walking three. Hoefler appeared in relief for Maple Valley Varsity Lions. McDonald collected two hits for Maple Valley Varsity Lions in three at bats. Maple Valley Varsity Lions had patience at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game.
