Maple Valley Varsity Lions Breeze Past Reading

Game 2 Maple Valley Varsity Lions won big over Reading 13-1 on Tuesday. Maple Valley Varsity Lions jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after a wild pitch scored two runs, an error scored one run, an error scored one run, and Wawiernia lined out, scoring one run. A ground out by Pierce extended the Maple Valley Varsity Lions lead to 6-0 in the top of the second inning. Maple Valley Varsity Lions extended their early lead with two runs in the top of the third thanks to RBI ground outs by Joseph and Wawiernia. Maple Valley Varsity Lions scored five runs on two hits in the top of the sixth inning. An error scored one run, McDonald doubled, scoring one run, Carpenter drew a walk, scoring one run, an error scored one run, and Hoefler was struck by a pitch, driving in a run. Coblentz earned the win for Maple Valley Varsity Lions. The hurler allowed four hits and one run over six innings, striking out seven and walking none. Elder took the loss for Reading. The pitcher went three innings, giving up eight runs (two earned) on five hits, striking out one and walking two. McDonald, Hoefler, and Coblentz each collected two hits for Maple Valley Varsity Lions. Pierce led the team with two runs batted in. Hoefler stole four bases. Maple Valley Varsity Lions stole seven bases in the game. Anderson led Reading with one run batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Elder went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Reading in hits.
