After a sluggish first half, Maple Valley's offense came to life and erased a 9 point halftime deficit to take a 2 point lead going into the 4th quarter. Ayden Wilkes and Connor Joseph each hit a pair of 3 point shots to get us going. Jake McDonald and Callan Hoefler did a really nice job of penetrating the lane and finding open shooters. We have been really stressing getting paint touches and kicking to open shooters. The 4th quarter was a back and forth battle with no lead getting bigger than 5 points by either team. Maple Valley continued getting the ball into the paint and creating open looks for teammates. Springport was able to battle back and tie the game with 25 seconds left. Maple Valley wasn't able to hit a jump shot with time running out forcing overtime. In overtime, Maple Valley took a quick 2 point lead when Teegan McDonald hit his brother Jake McDonald for an open layup to start the scoring. Both teams battled back and forth. Springport was able to hit back to back 3 point shots in a 15 second span to push the lead to 6. A deficit that Maple Valley was not able to overcome. Everyone of guys really battled on both ends of the floor. The second half was really exciting and we did some great things on the offensive end. I thought our kids showed great resilience tonight. Coming out in the second and battling to get back in the game. We had our opportunities to win tonight and that is all we can ask for. Ayden Wilkes led the way with 28 points and 4 rebounds. Connor Joseph chipped in 17 points Jake McDonald added 8 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists Coach Ryan Nevins
